  • I came here at the weekend. The castle and its grounds are very impressive. The staff are also very helpful and polite. There is a nice wee cafe with plenty of seats to sit outside. The garden is a...  more »
  • Brilliant Castle but no sustainable transport to it. Walk 3 miles on narrow, pavement free roads from the nearest bus stop or take a taxi. Very sad that a car is required. Looking at bus routes...  more »
  • We didn't pay for a guided tour, but there were tour guides in some of the rooms and they shared a lot of interesting facts with us. Tea room was lovely and the staff as well, food was affordable and....  more »
  • On a grey and damp September day, Castle Fraser and their guides continue to shine. This is a pleasant place to be with walled gardens and extensive grounds to walk through when the weather is nice. When it is less Clement, the castle, which supplies guided tours, will grab your attention for a good hour to hour and a half. The castle is 500 years old and the history is that of its family inhabitants. It is inn the state it was about the 1930s and very interesting to hear about.
  • This place was fantastic we went up to the top of the castle and wow what a view!! Our guide was very bubbly and knew her history of the castle and area very well. There is a cafe but as with most NTS sites its small and fills up fast, so packed lunch more ideal. Gift shop is good and large as well. We spent about 2hrs here in total.
  • Castle Fraser is surrounded by pleasant grounds, including a large impressive walled garden growing flowers, vegetables, fruits and herbs, a woodland walk, large fields including some with cattle. It's owned by the Scottish National Trust, the tour inside the castle is optional and a bit pricey but parking is a very reasonable £3 for the day and there are toilets, a shop and café in the castle that everyone can use whether you go on the tour or not. Overall I recommend spending 3-4 hours there exploring the grounds.
  • Great gardens and walled garden to walk round. The tour was great and our guide Andrea was interesting and informative. We had lunch in the little cafe in the castle kitchens, soup was hot and tasty and around £5. Great day out and dog friendly
  • The place has a great walled garden that is really well kept. There is kids playground, guided tours of the castle, cafe with nice food (salad is from their own Garden!) And a gift shop. You can buy plants and herbs there too. See photos for program prices etc.
