This day was a lovely if not slightly expensive day out. The house and gardens are set in a beautiful part of Essex and provide a fun day out for anyone interested in old houses and/or gardens. The ma...  more »

Enjoyed our visit. However was given the wrong time for the garden tour over the phone, so missed it. Also closing times were confusing, very busy in main hall on arrival so thought we would enjoy it ...  more »

We arrived at Audley End House and couldn't have been more pleased. No problem with parking. The grounds are beautiful, perfect for a picnic if you take one and for children to run around and let off ...  more »

  • Very pleasant time here. Despite the moaning kids they actually enjoyed it. House is nice and educational. The grounds are wonderful and very well maintained. On a nice day take a picnic and just relax. Lots of space for the kids to run around and be children... If you can separate them from their mobile devices.could be classed as a bit pricy, but we got in with English Heritage membership.
  • So expensive to visit, no getting round that, but so worth it. We spent the whole day exploring the gardens and house. Not only is truly stunning but the history is incredibly interesting. If you can catch one of the talks in the house it's well worth it. I was blown away with the care and attention that had been put into the displays. I'm really pleased we went as really pleased we are English heritage members!
  • Beautiful house with loads of history, and the staff are really friendly and knowledgeable about the place. Many of the rooms contain the original furniture so you can really get a sense of what it would have been like when the family were still in residence. If you're there on a Wednesday there's a lovely gentleman playing piano in the library which really adds to the atmosphere. There's a good café with a children's play area, and a tearoom at the main house (try the bakewell slice!). If you go on a nice day you can explore the beautiful gardens, or just sit by the river and watch the world go by.
  • Very historic location. Great place to explore and there is so much to see. Sorry, pictures aren't allowed inside the actual house.
  • Apart of English Heritage. Great big stately home. Good views on a sunny say.
