  • Great place to spend and hour or so Lovely gardens and a nice little cafe. Enjoyed looking at the old armour and the way the building was constructed
  • As a keen amateur historian I was impressed at the efforts the guides went to to answer my questions. Well done, ladies.

  • Rufford Old Hall is a fabulous place. Even on first entering the property, we were impressed with the staff, who made us very welcome. The house and gardens are so beautiful. We had a very interesting tour around the house from the outside (lucky to be there on a sunny day). Our guide Tom gave an excellent presentation. There were guides in each room giving comprehensive information on the furnishing and fittings. We also went on a tour around the gardens with our tour guide Brian, who was very entertaining. We were very impressed with his knowledge of the plants in the courtyard etc. as well as the smallest wild flowers around the Hall. All members of staff and also the volunteers were so helpful and friendly.. We even spoke to the Head Gardener and his assistant Fiona. Along with other staff and volunteers in the garden, they do a fabulous job. There are lots of things to entertain the children. The tearoom served up some lovely cakes. This is one of the nicest places we have visited for a long time. Thanks to all at Rufford Old Hall!
  • Lovely NT property to visit. Children enjoyed picnicking and exploring in the gardens.
  • Nice staff but taking photos inside hall prohibited.Place for short walk.
  • Nice old house with nice gardens and a walk by the canal. Good tearoom and second-hand bookshop.
  • Very relaxing and a lot less busy than Speke Hall. Nice to have a picnic on the lawn or enjoy the food in the cafe.
