  • This is a fantastic - and free nature reserve. A small charge is made for parking via a number recognition system - so make sure you pay. It's worthwhile. The small ad friendly visitor centre is staff...  more »
  • It was a warm day so a walk round the shaded reserve was a good idea. We stopped at some of the hides. The bird life was mallard, coot, cormorant etc. There was a tick list for children, and bridges t...  more »

  • Lovely. 2 pounds to park all day. Limited parking space though. Pay on exit (your number plate is read on entry by a camera, or some such sorcery). Big enough to be peaceful even when busy.
  • WOULD NEVER LEAVE MY DOG HERE AGAIN TELL YOUR DOG FRIENDS. IT WAS MY FIRST AND LAST TIME USING THIS KENNELS.Left my dog here in March16 this year paid over £160 to look after my happy healthy dog for 10days. When I picked my dog up he was not his normal happy to see you self.He ran straight to the boot of our car shaking. My poor dog looked so so thin he was like skin and bone. He had lost so much weight he looked all head and tiny little body. I asked the kennel what was wrong with him and they told me he had a bit of diarrhea as he had missed us.My poor dog when we got him home and properly checked him over as well as the weight loss his paws where red raw and all swollen with lumps like blisters. He was throwing up and being constantly sick he also has bright red pools of blood coming from his back passage. He wood not eat anything and he would not even eat his favourite treats. He was very lethargic, unresponsive, curled up into a small ball and did even respond to me stroking him.My local vet said he was very poorly and dehydrated and needed putting on a drip. It has taken months to get him well again and he is still hoarse when he barks. He picked up a form of kennel cough eventhough he had be immunised. Don't take the risk of leaving your dog here.
  • If you love to be in an environment where creatures of nature are abundant in their own natural habitat free to roam and live out their lives without hinderance due to enclosed spaces, then this is a place you would want to visit......
  • Loveley litle nature reserve been visiting Mere Sands for many years. I love to get there really early on a spring or Autumn morning. Lots of woodpeckers and after 30 years seen my first king fisher at Mere Sand! Plesent walks to be enjoyed through the diffrent well managed environment's. Great views to be had from the verious and well maintained hids about the site. A few years ago the site became very popular with joggers and dog walkers so much so that it became increasingly difficult to see any wildlife at Mere Sands! On more than one occasion while visiting the reserve I've been patiently waited to identify a Bird moving through the tree tops only to have a licra clad jogger or a dog crash past me and scare the bird away. Why anyone would bring a dog on to a nature reserve is beyond me. I personally believes the reserve would be greatly improved by the discouragement off these joggers and dog walkers. A lovely little reserve to be enjoyed by both casual birder and keen twitcher
  • Lovely small nature reserve. Great for family, walkers and those with dogs.
