  • Excellent building so pleased its going to be looked after!! i hope people support it in all events!!
  • We chose the Strafford tour online, and Robert/Bob brought the place to life, with his long history within four centuries or so of history of the estate, with many twists and turns. His Yorkshire stra...  more »
  • Second time visited; still remain amazed at the place and the knowledge of those tour guides. Love it.
  • A truly magnificent house and well worth a visit. Take the full £25 ticket as it is worth every penny. Reg. our guide, was the best guide that we have ever had for a stately home and his knowledge of the house and history is unsurpassed. He also has a great sense of humour! Unfortunately, the weather was abominable when we visited and we were unable to complete a full tour of the garden. At the moment, you can only get tea and cakes at the house, but there is an excellent bistro in nearby Wentworth village, which we can really recommend.
  • After a 10 mile bike ride it was a nice walk, very picturesque surroundings
  • Finest country residence in YORKSHIRE If you cannot visit try reading Black Diamonds by Catherine Bailey Stories the history of this magnificent stately home
  • Worth visiting especially if you're already in the area say Wentworth garden centre.
  • A former power house of the north, steeped in history spanning some 300 years. This is a must visit attraction and deserves the support of the nation. Wentworth Woodhouse, until recently, has been very much, a forgotten house. However, the work the Newbold family has done over the past decade has helped this grand old house open her doors to general public again and she is well worth the visit, though there is still much to be done. If you choose to visit Wentworth Woodhouse, you may be lucky enough to have Robert (Bob) Mortimer as your guide. Bob was house carpenter to the last Earl Fitzwilliam and has spent more than 40 years living and breathing Wentworth Woodhouse. His knowledge and passion for this great house will be surpassed by very few, if any, and this comes through in his tours accompanied with great humour. I had a chat with Bob after our tour and as I thanked him for his time, he said: 'You learn nowt if you don't enjoy yourself, you've come to visit this grand house. You're not on a school trip.'
