Paid for a ticket for the correct time and did not exceed it. Got a £100 fine from parking eye saying not paid for parking. I duly sent the ticket off for proof that I indeed did so. As I had only typ...  more »

Beware - an ok attraction ruined by parking charges. Parked as one of only 2 cars in the car park - no barrier or obvious signage, the visitors centre was shut. Paid for the Butterfly Zoo and Maze and...  more »

  • Pleasant small attraction let's focus on the parking issue as that is causing such concern on here. The car park has a numberplate recognition camera covering the entrance and exit. There is therefore no avoiding the charges and avoiding the car park attendant it is automatic. You can pay the tariff of £3 at any time between arriving and leaving and can also top up payment if you overstay. The pay machine is by the entrance to the Maze not the Butterfly Zoo. £2 of your parking is refundable on admission - the machine gives you a refund ticket to present at the desk. So in summary buy a ticket and you won't get fined. Lovely butterflies, good maze and challenging crazy golf to enjoy - good fun if small scale.
  • Nice day with family. Second time there, kids love it, would recommend. But despite paying for 4 hour stay. Got parking ticket for private eye saying I owe 60 pounds for staying 2 hours 59 minutes. Kiss my ass. When I phoned butterfly zoo the lady on phone was patronising and down right smug and rude. Nothing to do with them. Won't visit again, and car park robbers won't see a penny
  • Beautiful little place full of colourful butterflies! Bargain if you purchase tickets for other attractions as there are discounts! You have to pay for parking but you do get given a 'refund voucher' where you can claim back £2 back if you enter into any of the attractions!
  • Lovely afternoon out for young children. Great bit of fun running through the giant maze.
  • If only there was an option for 0 stars. A real shame that somewhere with the potential to provide a lovely day out is owned by a man with a severe attitude problem and a lack of commercial sense. After a recent visit, with my young brother, a friend and her child, during which we spent a fair amount of money on the attractions and the gift shop, we have received a parking fine from a third party. After a frustrating conversation with a gentleman (who I now know to be a partner/owner of the business) who showed no customer service or care for my query. It transpired that we had underpaid for the parking by £2.00. I accept my error of not reading the small print on the small sign and listening to the cashier who informed us that “parking is £3 for the day, it doesn’t matter when you pay just make sure it’s before you leave” – no problem we thought. I called up to apologise and offer to pay the difference or for a ticket again for £5 – to which the gentleman replied it wasn’t his problem and that I was to take it up with Parking Eye. Who by the way are trying to justify £100 over a loss of £2.00. Said gentleman even suggested that I pay the lower fee of £60.00 – are you on commission? At this point I’m already appalled that someone is happy to fuel a third party parking company with a £25 million turn over rather than settle the claim and actually make their own business money. It was at this point I called back after looking into how to appeal, I gave it one last go at explaining the situation/reason for the misunderstanding; that my young brother (6 years old), who has additional needs had been violently sick and was very unwell just as we were about to leave and consequently pay for parking (I’m sure if they can see this is on CCTV). As anyone with children/or with any emotional intelligence can imagine my focus at this precise moment in time was to make sure he was ok and we cleared up both him and any other effected areas…Oh and not ignore the advice given by the cashier and pay £3.00 for parking. We still took the time to pay for parking, albeit £2.00 short – it wasn’t that we took advantage of the carpark, we were paying customers with good intentions to support a local business. Even after explaining the circumstances, the gentleman showed no care – I stated I was disappointed with the way my call had been handled, the gentleman then went on to laugh and give me the sarcastic response “thank you for your comments”. I am genuinely upset by your lack of understanding and quite frankly cruel ignorance.
