  • We visited the castle during a sunny morning end of October and were surprised by the history of the fort and the good state of the monument. Kids will like it , there is a good dressing up for childr...  more »
  • Lovely site; interesting history and full of interest for both children and adults. Well worth a visit if you like to explore coastal defences of a bygone era. Smallish site with lots of steps & stair...  more »

  • We held our wedding ceremony here...what a wonderful, amazing day! The staff at the castle were friendly, helpful and reassuring throughout. The venue was like a fairy tale for our purposes whilst having fantastic history. We highly recommend this venue for weddings but is also a brilliant day out. Thank you to all the staff at Upnor Castle.
  • A lovely castle located at the bottom of a picture perfect street. Well worth a visit offering some great photo opportunities of both the castle, grounds and views across the river to St Marys island.
  • Place seemed a little tired and unloved , looks like they have tried in the past to add a few bits to the place , like dressing up for the kids , places to do brass rubbing and so on .... but these seemed to be half arsed and not kept on top of .... some of the staff that were walking about the place but didn't even give you eye contact let alone talk to you (Although in their defence they did have a wedding that they were preparing for .... but there were other people there). Although on the plus side the guy from the ticket office was a great guy , a real history buff , and genuinely seemed interested in us two , well done mate , popped to a couple of places you recommended as was not disappointed.
  • Fab dockyard vistas, so much history into which to delve and loads more
  • Great castle to wander around, plenty of history and nice views of the river. Well worth a visit.
