  • We'd been to Upnor Castle before some years ago, but wanted to visit again, in particular, to see the 'Battle of Medway' exhibition depicting the Dutch raid in 1667 (350 years ago). It was a beautiful...  more »

  • Before entering the castle our party, which included one individual suffering from longterm health difficulties, stopped to use the facilities; however, one of our group had begun feeling unwell and so we had discussed returning to visit on another day and agreed to leave so as to reduce their discomfort. As we were leaving a member of staff stopped us and accused us of using the facilities without the intention of entering the castle. This would have been passed aside as a simple mistake had it not been for the aggressive and utterly unacceptable manner with which we were confronted. Safe to say we will now not be returning and will encourage friends and family to steer clear if this is the way that staff deal with potential visitors.
  • Lovely, great views from the castle and lots of rooms to look around so you will never not have anything to do its lovely for people at any age it a great way of looking back at are history
  • Was being renovated when we went but was a great place. Lots of spiral stair cases very tight at times. Could probably benifit from a one way system for the castle.
  • Interesting naval battle information and social history detail of being in a garrison which was little needed. You need to be fit for all the spiral staircases!
  • Interesting castle remains, owned by English Heritage . Pleasant location and takes about 1 hour to wander around and read info
