  • Lovely little town and castle, great for the afternoon walk and dinner. Best to combine with Dickens Festival or nearby castles. Easy access from London by train.  more »

  • Lovely old castle and grounds. Nice to hear about local history and the role Rochester castle played in some very historic moments. Easy to walk to Rochester town centre for food and drinks. Quaint old city. A stones throw from the cathedral. Always have good Xmas markets too!
  • Lovely historic castle well worth a visit if you are travelling in the area, although the castle is only a ruin if you are looking for historic architecture the cathedral is a much better visit. Get great views of the cathedral, historic Rochester and the river Medway from the top of castle. Visiting isn't too expensive but certainly not the cheapest thing to do in the area. The castle grounds are free to visit and relax in, a great spot for lunch.
  • Very nice place to visit. Great history lesson for the kids (& us). Staff are very accommodating, letting us enter, even though they had just closed for last admittance.
  • Firstly the price - 19 quid for 3 adults.... I'd have expected more for that price. However my 3 year old adored going up and down the stone steps of the castle... The views were good at all levels, definitely something to do when it's good weather.
  • Beautiful castle, well preserved and lovely tended. Very helpful staff who allow you plenty of freedom to explore at your own pace. The information is easy to follow with lots of interesting key facts and the roof top access allows for really panoramic views of the city. Great visit.
