School summer holiday, so we took 2 cars to give the children a good run around. The Abbey grounds are absolutely lovely and we thought the £6 per car entry fee was good value. We don't appreciate the... more »
Amazing place to visit, we cycled there and they were supposed to have had a good fair on but we didn't find it. Really enjoyed our day there
Beautiful place for a stroll through the gardens and also a picnic in nice weather. you can sit and relax watching cricket at times during the summer. The abbey itself is now well known for being the ancestral home of Lord Byron...There is a charge to get in the grounds when we went in April 2017, it was £6 per car...but if you get the good weather the charge is well worth it...Lovely place...
Amazing place to spend time especially with family and kids. Calm and cool place. Gardens are really good.

In sunny weather, spend a pleasant few hours wandering the stunning grounds. The in-house guides are generally very knowledgeable - there's more to Newstead than the Byron connection! The main issue is access via public transport. The walk from the train station is much, MUCH longer than online info implies. And, according to the reception staff, it's not possible to book a taxi to pick you up from the Abbey. Bring your bike!

Beautiful landscape. Amazingly well maintained. Good place to spend a summer weekend. Entry fee is very reasonable £1 per person. Both spanish garden and japanese garden are nice. Loved the place.
