  • This is an incredibly interesting museum staffed by friendly volunteers. We were made welcome as soon as we entered and offered help to take our wheelchair bound little girl in the lift to the top floor, where there was a lovely display of quilts amongst other things. The cafe is tiny but well stocked with really nice cakes and a variety of drinks and snacks, and there is a gift shop there too. We spent a couple of hours there and easily could have stayed longer. Together with the Big Pit museum in South Wales this has made me see the mining industry in a new light and with a great deal of respect :)
  • Surprisingly good, with a huge amount of information about the local area, especially the coal mining exhibits which are a total eye opener. The reconstructed 'sets' combined with lots of supporting exhibits and info and well informed volunteers make the museum interesting for all ages.
