  • The Nelson area is well laid out but not the main attraction. By walking throughthe museum you will see how the Royal Navy progressed and how it has become a part of our Armed Services today.
  • Part of the Historic Dockyards at Portsmouth this Museum is rather overshadowed by the Mary Rose and HMS Victory which everyone must choose to visit first and only possibly get around to this Museum a...  more »
  • I felt given the long history, role and size of the Royal Navy, the museum would be much bigger. Overall, quite small and limited.

  • An exceptional collection of naval memoribilia and models, representing the long and proud history and traditions of the Royal Navy. New for 2016 is a fascinating exhibition on the famous Gallipoli campaign of the First World War. Truly outstanding exhibits include the gun attributed with firing the first naval shot of the First World War. Definitely worth visiting while at the Historic Dockyard.
  • Fantastic museum lots to see and do on more than one location. Including HMS Warrior, HMS Victory and Mary Rose
  • After a 25 year career in the RN I was delighted to see the history of the Navy so magnificently portrayed. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.
  • Great range of exhibits - highly recommended on rainy days especially
  • Stupendous display make sure you allow a day or two to take everything in
