Sandbanks Beach, Poole

4.6
#1 of 16 in Outdoors in Poole
Sandbanks Beach, noted for its shallow, clear waters and outrageously expensive real estate, is Britain’s premier beach. The soft, white sand is great for kids, but the low waves make surfing impossible. Amenities include restrooms, showers, and, during the busy summer months, first aid and lifeguards. The beach can be very crowded in the summer. An alternative to swimming is enjoying a walk along the shore to Boscombe Pier. Wonderful sandy beach. One of the best in the country I would say. Parking is a bit expensive but worth a visit.  more »

  • Amazing site, fine sand and relatively clean waters. The view is like a tropical heaven, bar the coconut trees. Only gripe is the terrible parking: not nearly enough places for the demand and they still use coin machines, like twenty year old ones, can you imagine? If you want a perfect experience, plan ahead and get there early, just about at eight or nine (you avoid the hour long traffic queue) and you will habe ample parking, also leave just about at four, so again you won't queue. We left at five to Soto and had to queue for 90 minutes.
  • My favourite beach in the UK so far. The water is clear. Calm waves. Beautiful sand. Parking is expensive but available. There is a walkway on the beach for ease of access for prams or wheelchairs. You can hire beach umbrellas and loungers. There are lifegaurds. Food, drinks and icecream is available. Really really wonderful beach!
  • Really nice beach. Great for swimming, lifeguards on hand. Good facilities. Expensive to park £15.00+ for 8 hours
  • Fantastic beach on the south coast. Shallow, clean and clear. perfect for young children.
  • Beach had beautiful soft sand, clean and sparkly green sea. Views of faraway beaches, good for swim, no rocks to hit your toes. Deffinetly will visit again!!!!

Where to stay in Poole

Consider renting an apartment inside a redeveloped warehouse in Poole's quay. This area is full of attractions and views over the port, where boats leave for cruises to nearby islands. The town center and the harbor are near each other, and lodging is available in both areas.
