Sandbanks Beach, Poole

4.6
#1 of 20 in Outdoors in Poole
Sandbanks Beach, noted for its shallow, clear waters and outrageously expensive real estate, is Britain’s premier beach. The soft, white sand is great for kids, but the low waves make surfing impossible. Amenities include restrooms, showers, and, during the busy summer months, first aid and lifeguards. The beach can be very crowded in the summer. An alternative to swimming is enjoying a walk along the shore to Boscombe Pier. • We visited off season so parking for the day was pretty cheap. About £2ish if i remember right. It was pretty cold and Blowy being in February, but the walk along the beach was lovely. Some great view...  more »

  • We love our local scenery and appreciate how lucky we are. But it's even better here when we don't have to fight for a parking space and can walk our dogs freely. Then summer comes - let the battle co...  more »

  • Lovely Andy beach with views over the harbour entrance, good car park but crowded over weekends and bank holidays. Very active kite surfing in the adjacent harbour enclosure , the area is called Jesus lake as it is shallow and dismounted from the surf it appears that you are walking on water.few places for meals with range of pricing toward the high end. Lovely place to spend a day there.
  • Nice car park but disabled toilet not flushing. Pouring with rain so didn't see the beach. Probably OK. Cool dog washing machine!
  • Good beach, quite flat with soft sand. The beech has a designated area which is patrolled by lifeguards in peak season. There is a segregated beach where dogs are allowed and there is a small parade where you can buy beach essentials. Although I think it's missing a good ice cream shop where you can buy by the scoop. By the main section of the beach there is also a small park with climbing frames etc. This is the only beach I have been where little boats visit hourly selling ice creams (in summer season only I presume).
  • Lovely clean sandy beaches. Parked in the sankbanks beach car park which out of season will cost you £1 for an hour or £2 for all day up until 10pm. Even out of season it's still a beautiful beach. Highly recommend a visit if you've never been.
  • One of the if not the most beautiful spots in the country. Gorgeous sandy beach and a lovely marina. Definitely worth visiting.
