Sandbanks Beach, Poole

4.6
#1 of 20 in Outdoors in Poole
Sandbanks Beach, noted for its shallow, clear waters and outrageously expensive real estate, is Britain’s premier beach. The soft, white sand is great for kids, but the low waves make surfing impossible. Amenities include restrooms, showers, and, during the busy summer months, first aid and lifeguards. The beach can be very crowded in the summer. An alternative to swimming is enjoying a walk along the shore to Boscombe Pier. • Beautiful beach. The houses here are absolutely grand. Good place to let the kids swim. Lifeguards present with flags. There's a mini golf just nearby. Waves not big enough for surfing though.
  • This is a very popular beach, but for good reason. It is a nice broad beach with good quality sound. There is a decent size (but not cheap) car park behind it, and plenty of facilities (cafe, ice cream kiosk, toilets, playground , crazy golf course). A long stretch of the beach has life guards too. In the summer there is also a boat that sells ice-cream along the shore line, which the children love.
  • A really beautiful lifeguarded beach. Plenty to do with the fine sand and clean water. Just off the beach is a great walk/run/kids cycle around the harbour front. The water in the harbour is very shallow at times which makes it perfect for learning to paddle or windsurf (hire available).
  • Great family beach. Clean golden sand, shallow shoreline, good snacks and drinks available, clean toilets and ice cold showers! As with all popular UK beaches, arrive early for a parking space and at the time of reviewing it is £2 an hour
  • Beautiful beach with stunning sand and views. Nice facilities and good prices on parking. Highly worth a visit

Where to stay in Poole

Consider renting an apartment inside a redeveloped warehouse in Poole's quay. This area is full of attractions and views over the port, where boats leave for cruises to nearby islands. The town center and the harbor are near each other, and lodging is available in both areas.
