Poole Stadium is a greyhound racing venue and speedway track located in the town centre of Poole, Dorset in England. The stadium is owned by the Borough of Poole. It was built in the early 1930s in an attempt to provide a source of entertainment to the residents of Poole during the Great Depression. It is also often referred to as Wimborne Road, which is a road that runs adjacent to the stadium. During weekdays, the stadium's large car park is used to provide parking for Poole Hospital's park and ride scheme.HistoryFootballIn 1933 local semi-professional football team Poole Town F.C. moved to Poole Stadium where they began to play their home games in the Western Football League. In the 1946/47 season they had a run in the qualifying rounds of the FA Cup which took them through to a first round match against Queens Park Rangers. Poole Town drew 2–2 at Loftus Road, but lost 6–0 in the replay in front of a then record breaking Poole Stadium crowd of 10,224. They again reached the first round in the 1962/63 season and held Watford F.C. to a 2–2 draw at Vicarage Road, but lost the replay at Poole Stadium in front of an 11,155 crowd.

  • This is a greyhound stadium where the main object is to watch dog racing. There is a restaurant which serves a reasonable quality of food. 2 or 3 course meals and is not too expensive. The drinks are ...  more »
  • Brilliant fun for family or groups. Meal included in the package was great, Tote comes to the table and excellent view of the racing. Good old fashioned entertainment.  more »
  • We had a good time - but only 1 winner :( The bar is ok. What you would expect for a night at the dogs.  more »

  • We've been many times and normally it's a great night. The last time it was rained off, which isn't their fault, but it was so poorly handled and I've still not received the vouchers they promised, so I've had to drop some stars. Hopefully we have better luck next time.
  • Good night out. Something different to do. Food is good for the price. Bangers and mash from the restaurant highly recommended.
  • Had a good night at the dogs, place seems lacking in emotion but pretty, friendly staff and the food was good too
  • Never again, what a miserable thing to do on a Saturday night, never been before and won't go again. Out of interest looked up greyhound racing on web and was deeply upset about what I found, Thousands of dogs just go missing every year, presumed dead because they are not fast enough. They are also caged and muzzled 23hr a day. Can't believe this is allowed top go on just for a bet.
  • Very helpful staff, clean room, quiet, breakfast ok, buffet style, disable parking can be tricky not that many spaces
