Burnby Hall Gardens and Museum are situated in Pocklington on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds. Originally the estate of adventurer and philanthropist Major Percy Stewart and his wife Katharine, the 9 acres of land, comprising 2 lakes and a National Collection of over 100 varieties of Hardy Water Lily, were left in trust on his death in 1962. The Gardens are a haven of tranquillity, and the Stewart Museum houses several exhibits of UNESCO standard. Children's events, outside theatre and band concerts are held during the spring and summer months. See www.burnbyhallgardens.com for full details.

  • A lovely day out at the tulip festival, the gardens are kept beautifully, tulips everywhere. Mostly good flat wide paths so my elderly parents where able to walk around safely. There are also wheelchairs available. Had a nice lunch at the cafe where staff were happy to help. Well worth a visit.
  • This place is great for the family lots of nice walks around the lakes and a good out door play area for the children. The cafe is not to expensive ice cream or food but you can take a picnic to have by the lake. Not to expensive to get into. Great for the disabled or cannot walk very far as lots of seating.
  • Not going to lie, my favourite thing about walking around the gardens is neing able to feed the giant carp! They also have a lovely little aviary. It's a beautiful place, perfect for picnics or if you just fancy a relaxing walk.
  • Lovely garden. Although the lake is currently under repair it's still worth a visit. We had a light lunch at the tea shop then walked around the gardens. The work on the lake is due to be completed by the end of May (2018).
  • Great place for a day out on a sunny day. The ponds are being renovated currently but when in their full glory they are magnificent & there are just hundreds of koi carp. The cafe & museum are great too.
