Burnby Hall Gardens and Museum are situated in Pocklington on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds. Originally the estate of adventurer and philanthropist Major Percy Stewart and his wife Katharine, the 9 acres of land, comprising 2 lakes and a National Collection of over 100 varieties of Hardy Water Lily, were left in trust on his death in 1962. The Gardens are a haven of tranquillity, and the Stewart Museum houses several exhibits of UNESCO standard. Children's events, outside theatre and band concerts are held during the spring and summer months. See www.burnbyhallgardens.com for full details.

  • Beautiful gardens. Lovely afternoon with a cafe serving coffee/teas and cakes, also light meals. Cute gift shop with lovely range of gifts reasonable prices. Good (free) parking available. Lovely quiet seating provided around the gardens so you can relax and enjoy.
  • Nice to walk around ,plenty of seats kids will love feeding the fish not to expensive to get in
  • Brilliant place. The gardens are interesting, lots of different ones to see. The famous Lily ponds are beautiful. We got a shared membership and really enjoy going. It's different each time we visit. The ice-cream is good value at £1.70, delicious too! Most Sunday's during the summer that have brass bands. Also we want to the annual Barbie and it was well organised and brilliant value at £ 4.00. They also have open air theatre. Children friendly too. Give it a visit this summer, you won't regret it!
  • Exquisite surroundings immaculately kept. Coffee, tea and cake available too. There's a decent enclosed play area for small children. Older children can explore the secret garden.
  • Quiet well kept gardens. It's well worth feeding the fish. I do think the admission is a little high for what's basically a park.
