Where to stay in Plymouth

Lodging in Plymouth range from stylish brand names and cozy B&Bs, to affordable self-catering apartments and private inns. To be near the city's main attractions, stay near the waterfront. Farther inland, you can explore a world of less expensive but just as comfortable boutique hotels and hostels, all within walking distance of the city's finest shops, restaurants, and bars. For an even less expensive alternative, consider staying in the quiet suburbs. Though a bit far from the city center, suburban hotels offer top-quality rooms at a fraction of the cost of the big hotel chains.

  • Lovely place - you can see from a long way away and a real landmark. I love seeing it on the Plymouth signs. We didn't go up this time. Care if you do, very steep especially for young or elderly. Very...  more »
  • If you are going to visit anything in Plymouth then make a visit to Smeaton's Tower it! What is it? Smeaton's Tower is one of the old Eddystone lighthouses (it was in service between 1759 & 1882), was...  more »
  • They seem to be trying to make something of the various "rooms" you go through when going up Smeaton's Tower, but frankly I don't think many people will be distracted from the climb to the top. I'm no...  more »

  • Lovely views all round. Only ten minutes walk from the town centre. The lighthouse provides a nice focal point on the Hoe. Very popular barbecue spot during the summer. Would recommend a visit if you have some time to kill and just want to unwind :)
  • Whether you're a uni student or a visitor this is a must do tourist attraction. For not even £4 each you can go up to the top and get some amazing views of both the sea and the city. It is truly an iconic symbol for Plymouth!
  • Beautiful place to be on a sunny day (or a cloudy one to be honest). I would recommend going up the tower, but the view is also great downstairs.
  • Lovely place to visit, day time lots of great family fun, great views and photo opportunity. also a handy meeting point during events if your party gets separated. However while not dangerous at night if traveling across the Hoe in the late hours especially in the summer steer clear of here & the darker areas of the hoe, as u'll often spot the more exhibitionist and passionate of the Plymouth community "the Dogger"
  • There's nothing to do here. It's a tired seafront that is in need of a tonne of work. Revolting
