Where to stay in Plymouth

Lodging in Plymouth range from stylish brand names and cozy B&Bs, to affordable self-catering apartments and private inns. To be near the city's main attractions, stay near the waterfront. Farther inland, you can explore a world of less expensive but just as comfortable boutique hotels and hostels, all within walking distance of the city's finest shops, restaurants, and bars. For an even less expensive alternative, consider staying in the quiet suburbs. Though a bit far from the city center, suburban hotels offer top-quality rooms at a fraction of the cost of the big hotel chains.

  • Not cheap, but a good day out on a rainy day in Devon. Plus your ticket is valid for a year of revisits. My toddler loved it. Cafe is a bit disorganised and not brilliantly located (chairs almost block access to the lifts). Great talks and the main tanks are spectacular
  • Great attraction. Perhaps not a whole day out, but certainly an afternoon. There are often workshops running, so worth checking before visiting. The whole place is buggy and wheelchair friendly and there are stepping stools to give smaller children a boost so they can get a closer look at the exhibit. A wide variety of sea life to spot. Your ticket entitles you to repeat entry too, so if you live locally it's well worth the admission price (not sure if you have to specifically ask for the annual return ticket, or if it's just automatic?)
  • A good morning or afternoon's distraction with the kids. Very educational and stunning exhibits. Cafe is great too, with a gluten free menu. Worth it for the contribution to our marine conservation too.
  • Always brings a crowd, loads going on throughout the day and nice to get out of the rain. So many exotic, weird and wonderful aquatic life it's worth the money because you pay once and can come back anytime for a whole year.
  • A really nice aquarium. Lots to see and do. There are some very spectacular exhibits.
