Stopped at Chatsworth Farm Shop Cafe for lunch, had steak & stilton pie & my wife had the burger bun. Both were superbly presented & tasted delicious. Finished off with tea & scones which were equally as nice. Well worth a visit if you are in the area, visited the farm shop before we came home & was thoroughly impressed with the varied selection of fresh meats, porkpies & cakes etc. Great views looking out towards the surrounding countryside while you eat lunch or afternoon tea.
Most of the time when I come here I would rate a 5. Today I am giving a 3. We arrived at 11:25 am and were told that we needed to hurry up and tell them what we wanted (without giving us a menu or seating us first) because breakfast ends at 11:30. Fair enough, I guess we will just do lunch then, I told the young man. Come to find out, lunch does not start till 12 PM and they will not take your order even if you are sitting there until then. We paid for our drinks and left. Seriously! 30 minutes is a long gap. They could have at least taken the order and had it ready to be cooked for when they started but they just ignored us without any apology or anything. Very unorganised. So unless you come spot on for lunch, you may have to wait.
Me and my partner had a lovely afternoon tea at the farm shop café. It was very busy and we had to wait to be seated for about 20 minutes. But overall it was nice. The farm shop has a good variety. The staff are friendly.
If you like great quality , bright yellow , firm whites and amazing taste from your eggs , DO NOT BUY THEM FROM HERE. I was so disappointed , I complained the following week and they told me the eggs are from some estate workers. They gave me another half dozen and they were just as bad, didn't eat them. The other eggs are bought in from commercial suppliers. Such a shame, I had high exoectations.
Really good food. Great farm shop. Excellent views

Where to stay in Bakewell
Consider a stay in one of the Georgian-style cottages that populate the town center. Shops and restaurants are readily accessible to centrally located B&Bs and inns. A country inn closer to the outskirts of the city provides peace and quiet, as well as a midway point between the town and the main attractions in the countryside, such as the restored halls and manors.
