  • Great place for kids to explore fantastic wooden fort with slides swings and a labyrinth of aerial walkways slides and ladders a separate toddler's area and a cafe at the fort. The main cafe is at the castle the gardens have been uncovered not restored so it is an interesting "archaeological" garden. Large grass areas for picnics and running energy off.
  • Beautiful, well kept and clean garden and grounds, a good history of the castle ruins and friendly staff. Well equipped for families with a huge castle play area in the woods, all very well thought out and finished to a very high standard. There is also a choice of places to eat or to just stop and get a brew with some cake and an ice-cream for the kids, at least the quality of the food makes the prices a little more bearable. So in summary, not the cheapest place to visit but the price is reflected in the quality and there is plenty to do and see for several hours.
  • One of our favourite attractions to visit! The cafe is relaxing and serves lovely good and cake. There's loads to explore and the new Lost Castle was just brilliant for the whole family, from toddlers to teens. Thoroughly recommended :-)
  • Was a good place to stop to break the journey. The staff are friendly. There is a new exhibition open now which contains quite a bit of information. The gardens are still being worked on but are really good and worth taking time to explore. We didn't really have time see it all due to being on our way to sonewhere else but glad we did call in for the time we had.
  • Spent the day there, castle and gardens are beautiful, the hidden castle and other childrens activities are brilliant, we will definitely be having more days here, cafe food was great too. Historical side was fascinating. Can't wait to see the ornamental gardens brought back to life.
