  • Initially, I was determined not to like Centre Parcs, but it's around 2 hours from Glasgow and going out of season made it worth a try. I was very, very surprised how good it is; firstly, everyone is ...  more »

  • A lovely place to visit. Lots to do and when the weather is playing, beautiful. Personally stopped in the apartment block, lovely executive room, lounge, kitchen, bedroom and en suite bathroom. Please note the apartment block doesn't have a lift, so pack appropriately to avoid dragging your suitcase up two flights of stairs. Amenities are very good, Resturant's, main pool and lots of activities. If you are thinking if hiring bikes, pay the extra and have the electrically assisted ones, as it can be hilly and you will thank me for the advice. Had a great midweek (Mon to Fri) break and will come again.
  • I've always like Centre Parcs and especially favour the Whinfell site, but this recent visit was a big disappointment. Mainly because the accommodation was in an awful state and we spent the first few hours cleaning. Obviously the 'cleaner' was in a rush and just heavily wet the floor to make it look mopped and did nothing else. Dishes were in the cupboard still with bits of food on them (not stuck on food that wouldn't clean off, but obvious that someone had eaten crisps out of them). The toilet was wee'd in, on, and all over. I know that's the fault of the animal that was staying there before me, but there was no attempt to clean it. Rest of the park was the usual, which is great. There have been updates and improvements which was nice to see. The restaurants are still extortionately expensive (£10 for a small, not so special, cold burger). If the accommodation had of been clean and I hadn't spent hours cleaning first I would give it 5 stars, but it was out of order for the money they charge to have me cleaning.
  • Great place to unlock your outdoor potential with the kids. An excellent range of both indoor and outdoor pursuits to suit everyone's appetites. Nice to go somewhere and have a great family time irrespective of the weather. Not the cheapest of holiday breaks away but worth the monies spent judging by the smiles you will see on your kids faces. Especially wonderful at Xmas time..A definite must for any family with little ones under 10..!!
  • Not a big fan of Center Parcs, accommodation this time was a huge improvement on the previous visit, when we stayed at a lakeside lodge. Lots of activities to do, food and drinks are rather expensive, big jump in price from December 2015. Average drink price (pint) over £5. Two pints and two large wines was over £24. Average starting meal price is £12, for what is average food. Better value is the takeaway, also plenty of lovely pubs in the local area within 5 mile. I have given 4 stars on what is available for families and others, tried to be impartial 😁
  • Activities too expensive. The Lakeside apartments can be noisy. The balconies are poorly designed. The roads can be very dusty when it's good weather, not a problem until the patrol and service cars/vans go too quickly then one is walking in a dust cloud. They need to slow down! On the plus side the apartments were clean and the site is good for a walk/run(apart from the dust problem mentioned earlier).
