Aira Force, Penrith
Categories: Waterfalls, Nature & Parks
Take a walk in ancient woodlands and landscaped glades to Aira Force, a 20 m (65 ft) waterfall in the Lake District. Hammer in a coin to make a wish at the Wish Tree. Extend your walk past the falls along the river, and glimpse smaller waterfalls and even some red squirrels. Wear good footwear, as the walk to the falls is steep and damp at times. A beautiful place to walk. We climbed to the top and cooled our feet in the ice cold flowing water, which was fab. The main car park was very busy.
This was the highlight of my honeymoon, the walk along the lower path to the base of the waterfall is incredible and I'm scared of heights but still managed to enjoy it. Once we got to the fall it was amazing just stopping and enjoying the view
Very good national trust site . Beautiful walks along the valley to / around the falls . Excellent tearoom alongside carpark .
Convenient National Trust car park with toilets and a small shop. The walk up to Aria Force is short but pretty, definitely a nice place to stop for an hour or so.
Great walk really nice place to go on a hot day
