  • Parked in the Severn Trent Fairholmes car park at £2.50 for 2 hours before setting off on the short walk to the dam. Had a look round and read the information boards before taking the eastern lakeside...  more »

  • Scene of the Ariel training site as flown over by the Dam busters" Known as Ladybower Dam in the Upper Derwent Valley. There are excellent local walks and mountain/trail routes too. It is possible to use powered buggies near the visitor centre, but not where the ground near the dam can be very wet underfoot with heavy rain. There is a observation point at the side of the dam for a impressive sideways view and the roar of the water! There is also a climb up the hillside via tall steps! into the forest, but well worth the view. The car park gets full quickly and parking on the approach road I believe is not allowed. So plan ahead.
  • Fantastic walk around this historic dam. The dambuster squadron practiced here. The whole area is rugged and beautiful.
  • This is in an area of outstanding natural beauty with a variety of great walks of all levels to do. Parking is available with a small shop and snack bar to start or finish with.
  • Great bike ride around the ladybower reservoir from here, stopped off at the ladybower inn for lunch...very nice.great place for a day out.
  • Stunning view that seems to slow the heart rate. A lovely view & walk
