Paignton Pier, Paignton

(2.9/5 based on 1,100+ reviews on the web)
Home to Gilbert and Sullivan's comic opera in the late 19th century, Paignton Pier is a pleasure pier that provided Victorian visitors with dancing, singing, and music over the water. A fire devastated the original buildings in 1919, but the pier was restored in 1980 with an extended arcade. From the outside it appears that a series of stylish buildings make up an avenue, but these "buildings" are actually one long entertainment complex with a carousel, bumper cars, slides, and games. Enjoy plenty of snack selections and a romantic view over the water. • I was glad to find that Paignton pier was open for the most part despite it being low season! The arcades are pretty standard though the claw machines seem impossible to win! Lovely views across Torba...  more »
  • The pier is just one long line of amusement arcades. I didn't see how to walk along without walking through the arcades. Would have liked to see a sea view. The arcades are no different from the ones ...  more »
  • The land end of the peer is a large amusement arcade. We went on a fairly dull Sunday with plenty of people choosing to walk up and down the front but few going onto the pier. In summer it must be nic...  more »

  • Awesome pier, spend hours on the penny arcades and then grab a bag of doughnuts and get your fortune for by Zoltar. Brilliant!
  • Great fun on the pier and the cafe is reasonably priced. Cafe has recently been refurbished and is a nice clean place for a coffee or a snack
  • Nice and clean with various machines for all tastes. Lovely cafe also
  • Really nice, but the arcade is so outdated, and alot of the machines just take your money and you dont get to play them. Mustve went to the kiosk about 5 or times to get my money back, very frustrating. The arcades in the main town centre are much better.
  • Great pier with good attractions and quirky prizes. A bit of general TLC needed as some areas were a bit run down but that can be expected considering how busy it was.
