Paignton Pier, Paignton

Home to Gilbert and Sullivan's comic opera in the late 19th century, Paignton Pier is a pleasure pier that provided Victorian visitors with dancing, singing, and music over the water. A fire devastated the original buildings in 1919, but the pier was restored in 1980 with an extended arcade. From the outside it appears that a series of stylish buildings make up an avenue, but these "buildings" are actually one long entertainment complex with a carousel, bumper cars, slides, and games. Enjoy plenty of snack selections and a romantic view over the water. • Always go on the pier when we visit Paignton love it nice views and a nice walk not keen on the amusement arcade spoils it for me but well worth a visit
  • The pier is totally corrupted by the gambling houses that not only occupy the pier, but also the views of the pier and shoreline. Very shocking, very sad.

  • I live locally and the peir is the best arcade I could find the ticket machines are fair and the 2p pushers are good (Not the five pound note ones) And since like two weeks ago they have made 4 new claw machines full with teddys I went there with two quid and got an angry bird space teddy once I went with 10 quid and won like 15 teddys (I had to give some of them away!) Also they have just added an sponge bob coin pusher I heard that it is awesome!
  • A busy, well-maintained pier that is an important part of Paignton's sea front. Ticks all the boxes when it comes to traditional seaside attractions...amusement arcades, seafood stall, candifloss...all tacky as hell but it's simple, unpretentious fun.
  • I had quite a lot of fun on the machines but when I bought a yo-yo (150 tickets) and a bubble sword (250 tickets)and when I got out the yo-yo shattered and the string came off. The bubble sword's sword bit got stuck in the tube and had to pour 9/10 out to get it out.
  • Amusement owners greedy care only about profits. Grabbers rigged and 2p machine only 1%of what falls ends up in tray!! Prizes the cheapest Chinese toys you can find
  • The jewel of Paignton. Shame the council don't consider it so. Feeling tired. Needs some appreciation as the centrepiece of Paignton seafront.
