This beautiful mansion is a delight to see. The grounds are lovely, beautiful gardens and you are able to sit down and enjoy the grounds. Many weddings have organised there. Just stunnning more »
Lovely grounds to wander around, the building has fallen into disrepair looking through the windows. It would be lovely if it could be renovated, apparently it belongs to the local council now, so ren... more »
The gardens are lovely, well laid out and pretty. The car park was full of litter, and the entrance smelled of wee! The inside of the building is mostly marble, and is cold and unwelcoming. Some histo... more »
An 'ICONIC' building of ages past which has featured in 'historic films'. From the mansion lawns the building is impressive, with ornate flower gardens adding 'romance' to the once, 'SINGER' family home. (of the world famous sewing machine company). An opportunity to use the building as a public library was missed, with millions being spent on a new library at Paignton. Torbay Council vacated the mansion over three years ago, the proposed development of this heritage site unobtainable. The 'mansion' still stands empty, its 'grandly painted' interior ceilings over the marble staircases captivated by only the silence with in. With imaginative flare and professional promotional skills who knows what 'revenue' this 'elegantly romantic iconic mansion', could generate, whilst being a 'centre piece' of "RIVIERA HISTORY", all year.....
Superb place, an exquisite mansion in the heart of Paignton that should be more popular than it is A great place by the looks of it's outside. It's not open to see inside, which is a huge shame, because it seems like a real interesting place. We were appalled, when the tourist attraction bus just passed by on the near street without even slowing down to acknowledge this mansion, let alone let people out to see it. The gardens are beautiful - there are many dogs, but thankfully we didnt see any dog fouling. Both I and my two adult children enjoyed the walk around this mini-Versailles. There is plenty of sitting areas, where you can stop to read a book, have a picnic or just enjoy the tranquillity. We'd love to visit again WHEN (as we're hoping it'll be "when", not "if") they open it up, hopefully with some older and historic Singer sewing machines to view.
Great for a free walk around the grounds. Always well maintained. The squirrels in the wooded area are super friendly.
It's a gorgeous old mansion with stunning gardens. It's a lovely place to walk round. Only shame is it's not open to the public
A beautiful place both inside and out, got married here 5 years ago .such a shame to see it going to ruin
