  • Don't expect too much The building is stunning and your expectations of what are inside are raised which makes the disappointment all the more The problem is the the castle story is so badly told The video in the old kitchen which you expect gives you some insight focuses on drakes half brother and his various exploits. After the hall which doubles as the shop and pay desk you enter a room which doesn't know what it is it even has a fridge freezer in the corner I could go on but as there is only two other proper rooms to see ....you get the picture.t he fact it was a total ruin in the 50s is hardly mentioned, thank good we spoke to a wonderful volunteer or we would have left in ignorance, such a waste of potential of an exciting renovation
  • Impressive fortified mediaeval manor house in a rural setting. Great for picnics under the trees, very peaceful. Not easy to get to down extremely narrow lanes don't try it in large campervans or buses!
  • Very poor you cannot go inside the rooms. 15 mins is all you need for this visit. £7.00 each is an excessive price. No facilities other that a toilet. Of many sites we have visited this is without doubt the bottom of my list. Value for money really does not exist. Very disappointing.
  • Not really enough to sustain a whole day out but worth a visit. Lots of national trust properties locally makes membership a worthwhile investment.
  • My wife's Grandfather's Surname was Compton so naturally we had to visit this glorious midevil castle when visiting England. It is, even for those without any historic connection, this castle is a must see! BTW: Thunder is my 75lb, 29" tall at his front shoulders, AKC PureBred Black Standard Poodle Service Dog, bred and trained in the US by a group of special SD trainer of Service Dogs for Wounded Warriors funded by the US Dept. of Defense's Partner's Program. Please, find & support organization's that provide Service Dogs, without charging the recipients who are not able to afford the $35,000 to $60,000++ cost of breeding, raising & training Service Dogs. Thank you and enjoy your visit to Compton Castle!
