University of Oxford, Oxford

4.6
At University of Oxford, tread the same paths as some of history’s greatest thinkers, scholars, and world leaders. Oxford was the first university in the English-speaking world, existing in some form since 1096, and remains at the forefront of learning, teaching, and research. Explore where its students live and study by visiting some of the university’s 38 colleges, each with a distinct identity. The university boasts some of the world’s finest libraries and museums, with exquisite architecture. The Bodleian Library, dating from 1602, has one of the world’s most well-regarded collections. Its artifacts include a Gutenberg Bible, the earliest surviving book written in English, and almost 10,000 western medieval and Renaissance manuscripts. Visit the Ashmolean Museum, established in 1683 (making it one of the oldest museums in the world), and see works by Michelangelo, da Vinci, and Picasso. Rest your brain and stretch your legs in the University Parks’ 28 hectares (70 acres) of beautiful parkland, or climb the tower of University Church of St. Mary the Virgin, which offers panoramic views of the city. Check out some of the podcasts the University makes freely available, which include audio guided tours with different routes to choose from. • The very interesting visit, very nice parks. It is aptly named the city of bicycles. .. all they are in bicycle ♂️ ♀️.. .but it's still very commercial stuff, have all paid must. .. even visited a park... That's crazy

  • Place for a stroll and imbedded in the student environment and almost magical that this occurs. If you like history and culture in general, you should not miss it.

  • We were a few days in Oxford and the city and University are made of film. I advise to do a walking tour with Guide to enjoy more than the city. Collages, the University, the streets, the shops... everything is delicious. Highly recommended although it is difficult to Park, you should go to one of the park & ride lot that have, for example near the station

  • Wonderful buildings, steeped in history. The University of Oxford seems much more compact when compared to its contemporary, the University of Cambridge. However, I feel Cambridge is a far nicer town to look around than Oxford. However, many of the buildings here are far more approachable than Cambridge, that walls too much of the colleges off.
  • Super nostalgia seen always in documentary but visit in person it's like WOW. And the guided tour is 🍒 on the cake. Awesome environment and the structure leads your mind to the periodic era. The beauty of the place is the mesmerizing climate and the warmness of the whole place.
  • Lovely place to go around. Lot of things to see. Beautiful and huge libraries. I truly recommend it to visit and spend there a whole day.
  • Beautiful and historical place. Extremely rich in detail and very well organized for tourists to visit. It is also featured in some scenes from the Harry Potter saga. Oxford dates super back in history. After some disputes among scholars, some fled and established Cambridge University. The two oldest universities in the kingdom and the wealthiest too. Tip: If any of your friends studied there or is an actual teacher, they can get you in for free. Try that!
  • Amazing insight into the world of education and plenty of history too. Well worth a visit to a working university
