#10 of 21 in Parks in Oxford
Founded in 1555 by Sir Thomas White, a London cloth merchant, St John's is a constituent college of Oxford University and occupies extensive grounds in the heart of Oxford, with award-winning architecture and some of the most beautiful gardens in the city.

The unique and special community of St John's extends well beyond St Giles with over 7500 alumni. Everyone who studies here is a member of College for life and we hope you will continue to be involved with St John's and other St John's alumni long after you leave.

  • Wait until after 13 o'clock because then you can go in for free to see certain parts. Fine arcades around the buildings and a beautiful little chapel. A worth seeing college as may be recommended to visit.

  • Who would get only a small impression of the courtyards (quadrangle) a 'real' (teachers and researchers) College, without with the huge crowds that is romp to the opening hours at the visitors entrance at Christchurch College, confronted to be and to have to pay without the required there proud admission price, which is right here. However, there is only little to see: two courtyards are open to visitors to visit; the entering of staircases and rooms is not allowed and the garden because of construction work. Although the uninterrupted teaching and research may take precedence over the curiosity of tourists beyond reasonable doubt. However, had I seen but like to some more of the building complex, whose building style reminded me of a (compact) medieval Monastery complex.

  • I didn't go there but I've watched many videos and I just wanna say that St. John's feels like home.😊😊😊
  • Lovely Gardens, the quadrangle built by Archbishop Laud is one of the finest in Oxford.
  • Love the college. Open to the public during open hours for free and is an array of well maintained buildings and gardens. Kendrew Quad is my favorite part of the college.
