Take a tour of the castle grounds led by a costumed character guide, and visit the prison wing, the ancient underground crypt, and the man-made mound. Climb the Saxon St. George’s tower, one of the oldest buildings in Oxford, for impressive 360-degree views of the area. • Looking to do some tourist stuff? Do the castle. The staff dress up, pick a historical character and talk all oldy - who can't enjoy that!? When questioned, the tour guides really seemed to know their stuff, and were damn enthusiastic too.
  • Prison itself is fine but more appealing is the mount beside, not high but found it fascinating and cozy while lying on he grass with breeze blowing...chill but I like it
  • Decent tour but focused more on 19th and 20th century rather then origins. Good family activity. Dont recommend for children under 5.
  • Tours are excellent, highly recommend. It's got some decent restaurants as well.
  • If you want to absorb some history - then go and enjoy one of the guided tours - enjoyable history lesson - don't forget to walk up the mound too..
