  • Having spent all my life living in the area, it's nice to go and visit a local attraction. I regularly go to other tourist attractions, but Oxford has a fantastic history. We got there just as a tour ...  more »
  • Great tour. Went there with two of my daughters (22 & 17) and had a wonderful tour. Very informative and our guide, prisoner Smith, was just brilliant. Well worth a visit and don’t forget to go up the...  more »

  • Only did the Mound on this visit. Sign on the gate says £1 per person to visit but most just walked through an open gate. Very nice staff (when I went in to pay my £1) and the full visit looked new and interesting; will visit that next time. Nice view from the top, particularly of the castle. Think we nailed it this season, a Summer visit may be more obscured with leave covered trees.
  • Really enjoyed our tour. Peter was great. Really informative. Fantastic views across the city and a few gory stories of the prisoners throughout time (child friendly)

  • I visited Oxford Castle today, and booked a tour. It was very nice seeing the history of Oxford. The tour guide was dressed as one of the escaped prisoners, and was very good at explaining and welcomed questions. The views from the top are outstanding! (Photo attached) A must see for any local or tourist.
  • Good prison tour full of gruesome detail. Today the area has lots of pubs and eateries plus the Malmaison. You can also climb the castle mound for a small fee but it's not that exciting!
