  • Insane and very attractive book trade. During my visit to Oxford I have here almost every day a few hours spent ... Fine and always busy cafę.

  • You can find everything here! from technical books to children's. The store is confortable and you can spend hours inside. There is a coffe place inside. One of the greatest bookstores in the world!
  • Founded back in the late 1800's, we'd been told Blackwells was the place for book lovers to go. With very limited free time I made a beeline for the shop and was, well impressed. Then I went downstair...  more »

  • Well curated selection of all kinds of art, design, photography and crafts. They change the display regularly so I always find something interesting and fresh. Most of the books and gifts are retailers recommended price, but often they do £3/ £5 off for newly published books. They do the loyalty card scheme as well and it makes me happy when I get a £5 voucher once in the while. I know Amazon is cheaper but I buy from the Blakewells as I love the selection and I want them to survive.
  • I enjoy browsing and buying photography books here. Unfortunately some of the larger books often have badly damaged dust covers, and that means I wouldn't buy them. The more expensive books of this kind should be stored in places where they can't be damaged, so people like myself actually have a chance to buy them and don't resort to buying online!
  • They have really nice and good-value posters here, but - as I often find with poster shops - the content is never exactly what you want. The actual 'poster' element is also a lot smaller than I expected.
  • I've been looking for somewhere to buy comics and even though this isn't a comic shop, one can find a small collection of graphic novels here. The selection of posters are great and I love how the place is lain out.
  • A fantastic shop, the biggest problem being that my bank account isn't sufficiently well stocked to allow me to buy all the books, posters and other desirable bits and pieces from here. Perhaps I should be grateful that I only get to visit Oxford occasionally or my bank balance would suffer.
