Although the £3 parking charge may be seen by some as an unwelcome imposition, this simple device does ensure that most visitors to the park appreciate the need to look after and respect the amenity a...  more »

Lots of fun for children and adults. Enjoyed crazy golf, a woodland trail, children's maze and rowing on the lake. Dog friendly too.  more »

  • Lovey nearly flat walks with excellent scenery and lots of wildlife. Excellent park for the kids to play on. A nice clean cafe to rest and refresh. Lovely well kept gardens to walk around. Different routes clearly signposted with approx walking times. Parking 3 pounds all day. And can transfer between top and bottom car parks if you wish. Parking refunded if you spend 15 pounds in cafe.
  • Beautiful historic ruins and park. Walk in the sculpture garden, round the lake or in the woodland wilderness. Discover hidden treasures like the Ice House or the Roman column. The Savile restaurant does amazing hearty meals. The coach house coffee shop can be a bit slow when busy, but they do a great range of snacks and cakes.
  • This place was the best find of our three day trip to the area. The pictures on the website didn't do it justice. Loads of space for the kids to run around and explore. A decent kids play area at the bottom of the park. And all for £3 parking which you get back if you spend more than £15 in a single transaction (including café)
  • Great for a day out as a family or couple. Nice walks around the gardens and lake over to the old mill. A few play areas for young kids. Parking is reasonbly priced and I'm sure could be free if you're an English Heritage member. I did not go in the Abbey, however I am aware it has recently been restored, though it is still a ruin.
  • Lovely place to feed the ducks and walk around with the kids. Make sure you go.down to the courtyard to watch cars go through the Ford. Also see if you can find the two ice houses.
