  • Went to Sealed Knot Society- Civil War Action at Basing House on Easter Sunday and saw really good skirmishes. Looking forward to Saturday 15th July when Rifleman Harris (Sharpe), the 2nd Queen's Regi...  more »
  • Worth a visit whilst in the area, and in fact Old Basing itself. Informative in terms of history and the setting is very good and the grounds extremely well maintained.  more »
  • We parked at Basing House, paid for our ticket and picked up a 7 mile walk. We walked first, but maybe should have done the house first to better place it in the countryside during the walk. The walk ...  more »

  • Interesting place to visit, bit pricey for what's there but i guess if they got a bit more support and more visitors it could get a bit cheaper for admission, I'm fairly confident that if you know the area you can go and explore for free.
  • Was there as a participant in the annual Reenactment of the Siege of Basing House. It is an excellent example of Tudor/Stuart fortifications, and really gives a sense of scale.
  • Interesting afternoon out. Something for all of the family
  • It's a pleasant stroll through the grounds of a destroyed castle. There is a few historical bits but not much. Still a nice place to visit. No dogs allowed though
  • Great place for re-enactments, good hall for village fair and excellent ruins for a walk. Go through the secret escape tunnel when it's open.
