  • Excellent location! A castle within a really nice and quiet landscape. By car easy to get there. Very recommended any time, as long it is not raining or bitterly cold... Nearby you`ll find two nice pubs / restaurants. Or rent yourself a horse from the opposite riding school and discover the surroundings. Free Admission to the castle grounds!
  • Its an old castle. A small castle good for exploring in the summer or getting your feet wet by trying to cross the river on the stepping stones without falling in. There is a car park but it is fairly small, you can park futher towards the beach or other side of the river.
  • Ogmore castle is surrounded by beautiful Welsh countryside, it's free to park, has no entry charges and offers some great views of the rural areas of Merthyr Mawr and Ogmore. There's public footpaths and plenty of rolling hills and countryside nearby for dog walking and strolling and is in comfortable walking distance of the beautiful and very well maintained Merthyr Mawr estate. The castle is opposite a horse riding and pony trekking stables and is within 5 mins of two different pubs if you need to stop for food or refreshments. It's probably not the best place to visit in the wet or cold weather, but is perfect for enjoying a few hours outdoors in the summer sunshine.
  • Beautiful! Free! Fun! Climb all over the castle walls or sit on the lush grass and relax, it's a lovely place to visit. Have a go at crossing the river using the steppingstones and enjoy the walk to Merthyr Mawr on the other side.
  • Beautiful castle ruin by the river, great starting point for walks to the beach across the country side and sand dunes.
