  • The Jacobite House holds the most interest as far as history is concerned as the castle itself is a ruin but does afford fabulous views over Oban Bay. Built as a stronghold originally of course. The c...  more »
  • We walked from downtown for a nice short nature walk near the coast. We missed the museum, but there is a great view form the castle. The walk alone was worth the effort.
  • The castle is up a steep walk but the view from the top is stunning. The guide was very interesting. We walked round the museum, which is on lower ground at our leisure, it is full of interesting info...  more »

  • Nice walk from town - path through the trees take you up to the castle. Well worth the marginal fee to walk up to the castle and enjoy the grounds. Make sure that you walk around as there is a great little picnic place in a gazebo made from trees. Visited it on a day that they had a entertainment and truly enjoyed looking at the views with the sounds of the piper playing. If you enjoy castle ruins I recommend a visit if only to see the sites from the top of the castle.
  • Wonderful location and great work on retaining what remains of the castle. Had a great chat to the heir of the McDougal clan in the museum. Made the experience all the better. Nice displays with good history footnotes.
  • Great afternoon out here. The castle itself is being renovated at the moment so we couldn't go to that but the house and grounds were lovely. Lots of exhibits and such beautiful gardens. There is even a wee cafe in the garden. Take the scenic walk up if you can (its a reasonably big hill) because there are plenty of things to see on the way up and great photo opportunities.
  • Superb arrangement and ecstatic description

  • A ruin more it is not, the Museum shows the history of the owners see the park is worth it.
