Enjoy a variety of outdoor activities at Rutland Water, a 1,255 hectare (3,000 acre) manmade lake and reservoir. Walk or bike around the 40 km (25 mi) lakeside track--rental bikes are available at the Rutland Cycling shop. Rock climb or try the high ropes course at RockBlok adventure center. Hop on the Rutland Belle for a cruise around the reservoir. Sail, canoe, or windsurf at Rutland Watersports Center. Watch birds from one of several hides, or learn about the Rutland Osprey project at the Rutland Water Nature Reserve. Don't forget to visit Rutland Water's most iconic image, Normanton Church. We loaded up our bikes for an away day at Rutland Wter cycle trail. We are in our seventies. Very enjoyable route with some short, steep ascents. We cycled the route anti-clockwise after taking advice... read more »
Watching ospreys and walking out to Normanton church were all we could manage in the short time available but we could easily have spent a cvouple of days thereabouts
