Had a few beers here last night. Its legendary in Nottm. The beer was very pleasant, well kept cellar i imagine. The place was heaving, so no rooms in the caves, which i didnt mind too much as if you ... read more »
If you want to be transported back in time, then this is the place to go. The rooms, on several levels, are tiny and hollowed out of the rock. It's rough and ready but absolutely lovely; one can truly... read more »
to the wifes internet due to it being like hitlers bunker, which was great.as were the beers consumed.but a great little old pub
Fairly typical pub with an adequate selection of drinks and food. The attraction of this pub is that it claims to be one of the oldest inns in the England. Inside you'll notice that part of the establishment is carved into the rock giving it a very unique setting that helps create an interesting atmosphere. The downside of their claim and the uniqueness of the architecture means that it can be full of tourists at certain times.
As a Nottinghamshire resident I was ashamed at the state of the Trip. It is supposed to be the oldest pub in Nottinghamshire and a tourist attraction. Yesterday the 'garden' was a disgrace. Scrubby grass and dried mud and no plants. The tables are well past their sell by date and the paved area was covered in cigarette butts, paper, crisp bags and empty plastic bottles. It felt dirty and tacky. Come on clean your act up
Went for lunch with a group. Tables available and a short wait for food. The history and atmosphere of this place is incredible. The staff are also really friendly and helpful
Amazing place - built into the rocky outcrop on which Nottingham Castle stands - it's a pub, one of a kind pub, the oldest PUB. It's a must see, even if you don't drink, you need to go there. Insides are amazing, it looks small and crowded, even if not a lot of people are there - not sure if you can find time where there are not a lot of people!
Brilliant historic pub, but watch your head! ceilings are very low. The recent refurbs have ruined the place, and boxing up the cursed galleon was a sacrilege!
