Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem is a Grade II listed public house in Nottingham which claims to have been established in 1189, although there is no documentation to verify this date. The building rests against Castle Rock, upon which Nottingham Castle is built, and is attached to several caves, carved out of the soft sandstone. These were reputedly originally used as a brewhouse for the castle, dating from the medieval period.

  • We had to venture into the oldest inn in England while in Nottingham. It was early on a Friday afternoon yet it was still very busy. Felt very surreal seeing the Castle walls and the pub built into...

  • This is one of the oldest pubs in the UK, and its attached to the base of Nottingham Castle, so it's definitely worth a visit. Each room has a different amount of character - from cave-like hollows to ancient pub games to international money pinned to the ceiling. Try one of their own-brewed ales and arrange a tour of the intricate network of caves that run beneath Nottingham.
  • Excellent pub, my favourite!!! Great ales in a place full of history, next to the castle its self. I recommend this place to all, family too. The food is very good all served with excellent staff. If your lucky you might get a free history' lesson or tour. I dont give five for nothing, please try
  • Beautiful and atmospheric. Definitely a drinkers pub with a wide and ever changing range of beers and ciders. Do come for at least a fruit juice to see their wonderful decor and that IT'S IN A CAVE DON'T JUST TAKE A PICTURE OF IT!
  • What a cool place. There's a bunch of cool areas to sit inside the pub and lots of history and memorabilia on the walls. Service was great and the food looked and smelled really nice. Good selection of both cask and craft beers. Really enjoyed my time here.
  • Now this is somewhere I would visit twice. The food is amazing the drinks are affordable and my goodness the plain history behind the pub is amazing. It gives you a very olden day kind of feel. Such a lovely place indeed.
