Old Market Square, Nottingham

(3.7/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
Visit Old Market Square, the largest such surviving square in the UK. Once at the heart of the city's road network, today it is closed to all traffic except buses along Beast Market Hill and the tram. Check out one of the local events, fairs, concerts and exhibits held in the square. Jump aboard the Nottingham Express and watch for the two large stone lions guarding the Council House steps. Check out the first official Speaker's Corner outside of London and choose from a variety of food and trinkets for sale. In winter, visit the Christmas market complete with ice skating rink, and in summer enjoy real sand and deck chairs. A visit to Old Market Square represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Nottingham itinerary maker to plot your vacation.

  • Is a really enjoyable place in Nottingham, to share with friends, family, couples or on your own. Almost every weekend is an event there or show to attend, most of them for free. In spring and summer is lovely when the musicians play their instruments during the sunset.
  • Fairly busy, well lit area, bang in the centre. Opposite Weatherspoons pub. Can get crazy busy at weekends or when there's events on.
  • Nottinghams central tram stop ideal for city centre.
