Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, Norwich
Categories: Art Museums, Museums
Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts offers an art gallery in addition to a museum based on the Robert and Lisa Sainsbury Collection, which contains items spanning 5,000 years of human creative endeavors. Some must-see items from that collection include a 3,000-year-old Egyptian hippo, a 500-year-old Inca-made silver llama, and an important early study by Picasso. Spend some time interacting with the architecture, as the building’s cuboid structure made of clad steel and a clever basement extension make up celebrated works in the oeuvre of Lord Foster. Relax at the cafe, with a menu focused on local ingredients, which overlooks the modern sculpture garden. Plan your visit to Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Norwich travel itinerary maker.

Really nice venue to view art exhibitions. Had a really interesting visit but the only draw back was that parking was difficult.
There are normally special exhibitions here and on a wet day it is a good place to explore if you are into the arts. Right next door to UEA.

Great venue. Fantastic building and interesting collection inside. Good Coffee shop area which is a joy to use and a great space. Love it.
Only visited the Cafe but what a great little cafe it is. Very spacious with a huge window with tables arrayed all along it feeling like you are seated outdoors. Good selection of Teas Coffees and Cakes and Hot food also. If you go to the Sainsbury Centre be sure to drop in on the Cafe.
Interesting collections to look at. Good cafe. We'll worth a look if you are in Norwich or at UEA for any reason
SCVA is a great university art museum with some excellent pieces in its collection from many world renowned artists. The main collection is encyclopaedic and curiously displayed , however those looking for more of a traditional "Fine Art Gallery" experience may be disappointed by its more anthropological approach. There are many excellently curated exhibitions offered throughout the year that bring in objects and collections from other world-renowned collections, so take a look on the site to see what piques your interest and plan a visit.
One of my favorite places in Norwich. A large collection of Francis Bacon art. Occasional exhibits, sizable gift shop, and has a cafe. All around great place.
