Architectural Building Religious Site
Built in the 12th century and still holding services, Norwich Cathedral is one of 12 heritage sites in the area. Enter the cathedral through one of the two historic gates: the Ethelbert gate or the original gated entrance. Inside, you'll see 61 misericords, small wooden shelves also known as "mercy seats," carved on the underside of the folding chairs. Several hundred of the over 1,000 bosses (raised ornamental decorations) are carved and painted with ornate delicacy. A free guided tour will fill you in on the highlights. Tours are given daily, so there is no need to book ahead. The cathedral is an important cultural meeting place, with regular exhibits in the Hostry Visitor and Education Center and live music at the refectory. • Beautiful cathedral. Not as good as Peterborough one but obviously I'm biased! Stunning coloured glass windows bathing parts in orange and purple. One of the highlights for me.
  • Amazing 900 year old cathedral. Spectacular building. Just amazing how they built this so long ago. Lots of little chapels. A cloister. Nice little cafe and gift shop. Fascinating place to spend a few hours.
  • Norwich Cathedral is part of #Norwich12 heritage sites. Its a magnificent Norman Style building and is dedicated to the Holy and Undivided Trinity. Its the 2nd largest cloisters in England after Sainsbury Cathedral. The Cathedral is at 10mins walking distance from Norwich Railway station.
  • Amazing Norman cathedral, beautiful stained glass, the roof bosses tell the biblical history of the world. The cloisters carvings depict the Apocalypse
  • Nice Cathedral. Can't review my real feeling with just some words. Worth visiting
