Situated in a building that once housed a prison and shoe factory, Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell tells the story of social and industrial life in Norwich from the 19th century to the present day. Dozens of displays narrate the development of the city's major industries, which once included weaving, shoemaking, milling, brewing, and chocolate-making. A special exhibit dedicated to the history of the museum's building features engaging audio-visual presentations designed to expose the harrowing details about everyday life inside the former prison. The museum also houses a recreated pawnbroker's shop and pharmacy.   • Great museum experience and worth visiting for Norwich locals and visitors alike. As with the Castle, you can "pop-in" for £1 at the during the hour before closing, which is enough time to appreciate this great gem in the Lanes.
