Mount Grace Priory, Northallerton

(200+ reviews on the web)
Ruin Tourist Spot
Mount Grace Priory is the perfect tourist attraction for a relaxing and peaceful day out. Discover how the monks lived 600 years in the reconstructed monk’s cell and herb plot.

The crumbling masonry and open grassland have become home to a collection of wildlife that has taken advantage of what previous owners, including the monks, left behind. The famous priory stoats inhabit the passages under Mount Grace and are possibly the best-known colony of stoats in Yorkshire and even the British Isles.

  • A beautiful site with a lot to look at and an interesting history, lots of room to picnic and a great garden, my wife and I had a really good time.
  • Interesting history and particularly liked the renovated living quarters, really gave a feel for how the monks would have lived
  • Lovely place on a sunny day, walled areas so sheltered for picnics. Free if your English heritage or national trust member
  • Lovely peaceful priory with a good interpretation centre inside and some interesting material on life as a monk.
