Lightwater Valley, North Stainley
Categories: Theme Parks, Water & Amusement Parks
Thrill yourself on Europe's longest roller coaster and a range of other rides at Lightwater Valley. Stretching for 24 km (15 mi) through a forested area and climbing hills with heights of 31 m (102 ft) and 32.6 m (107 ft), The Ultimate provides a long shot of adrenaline and views over the park and surrounding area. Many of the rides and attractions sit in elaborately themed areas, such as the pirate world of Skeleton Cove and the Angry Birds activity area, which contains pig tunnels, climbing walls, and large touchscreens based on the hit game. Take thrilling rides on Wild River Rapids and Falls of Terror, or opt for tamer fun aboard the Lightwater Express miniature train and in the animal-filled Eagles' Creek Farm. Choose from a range of eateries, and dine outside without packing your own picnic by visiting one of the outdoor eating areas. Book your tickets online in advance to save money on admission to the park. Arrange to visit Lightwater Valley and other attractions in Ripon using our Ripon vacation trip planner.

Website states that 'Fairground rides operate from 10:00am with all major rides and attractions from 10:30am'. Raptor Attack was closed all day, Ultimate didn't open until 12.30 (multiple other rides opened late or closed for periods throughout the day). I can understand rides being closed for safety reasons, but in these cases the closures seemed pre-planned, and as such visitors should have been notified in advance (through the website or email/text if pre-booked). I personally wouldn't have gone that day had I known how limited the choice of rides would be. In addition, reducing the choice of rides ensured maximum queues at the few attractions which were open to further compound the problems.
Not the best park in the uk but still a great day out all the same. Food is OK but probably best taking a picnic, some good rides. I've been many times and planning to go back again this summer. Parking is free which is a bonus.

Its not a top theme park but the prices doesn't reflect that. I would say the under tens would love it. Bring your own food and drink. Quality and price which is available is,err rubbish.
There's a great new angry birds play area for kids and angry birds gift shop. Queue times bad as expected. I would highly recommend paying the extra £5 for queue jump. It's worth it as you'll get on loads more rides. I was surprised to see the same rides I went on as a kid, still there and not much new. Very dated. You'd think with such high prices, they'd have at least two decent rollercoasters! The food was very expensive and very poor quality. Cheapest of the cheap at mega prices. I wouldn't go again.
Great day out! Lots of rides, lots to see and do. Nice food and pleasant staff.
