4.6/5 based on 460+ reviews on the web
Renowned for its kite surfing, sand art, and surfing, Watergate Bay boasts a 3 km (2 mi) long stretch of sandy beach with a northwestern exposure. This ultra-clean beach has excellent restaurants on site (notably one opened by chef Jamie Oliver) and plenty of parking. Take advantage of the windy conditions and get out on the water--you can rent equipment here, so you don't need to bring your own. The rocky cliffs provide ample opportunity to explore caves and rock pools. Other nearby activities include canoeing, kayaking, and sailing. When you tire of all that activity, stop at one of the several quaint beachfront cafes. If traveling with your four-legged friend, note that the beach area welcomes dogs. The sandy shoreline is best at low tide, as the incoming high tide submerges the beach. • One of my favorite beaches not just in cornwall but in the UK. Clean, safe and long about 2 miles when the tide is right. Very picturesque and excellent for surfers.
