Monkey Haven, Newport
(4.5/5 based on 1,200+ reviews on the web)
Explore animals of land and sky at the Isle of Wight’s Monkey Haven. As a well-known animal relief organization, the center boasts a diverse collection of rescued primates and birds of prey. Attend a handling session with a knowledgeable trainer and learn more about the different types of monkeys, or listen to individual rescue stories while watching the owls being fed. Stop for a hot chocolate and scone at the center’s cafe before you leave. The center is nonprofit, so all proceeds go toward animal conservation and education. Plan to visit Monkey Haven during your Newport vacation using our convenient Newport tour planner.

  • We love visiting the owls here. Our daughter sponsors the same one every year. Now she has sponsored 2! Lovely outdoor space always clean and the staff are all so friendly. Just wish we knew the wood turning shop was going to be closed the day we visited as my daughter wanted an owl.
  • Marmoset experience was amazing. Staff could have been a bit more enthusiastic. Growing quickly something new to see every year
  • It rained, it poured, the sun shone, the sun hid behind clouds and yet the visit did not disappoint for the three adults and our excuse to visit...a one year old. We got to watch the meerkats play and stroke the owls and despite being in our 30's, play on the playground in what was an otherwise seemingly empty place, though it was a thoroughly enjoyable visit. (Pretty sure the weather kept most sensible people away from this outdoors attraction)
  • Came for the 2nd time in 2 years on our second visit to the island. Has expanded with new animals since our last visit. A very well looked after park, lovely spacious enclosures, friendly chatty staff and a lovely café
  • Great family day out. A little pricey for its size but good anyway
