Robin Hill Country Park, Newport

#3 of 19 in Things to do in Newport
Much about Robin Hill Country Park has been created to cater to its youngest visitors. Gentle outdoor rides, duck ponds, hill slides, and rabbit tunnels offer a contrast to traditional amusement parks. You can take part in a “squirrel safari” to track the endangered red squirrel or visit the butterfly pavilion. You're also welcome visit the falconry and regularly scheduled owl show. The park sits on top of a buried Roman villa and farmstead, which date back to 43 CE. An exhibition barn displays artifacts from the site. • My husband and I loved this place and so did our 16 month old. So many nooks and crannies for my son to explore and the park is so big you really can spend a whole day getting your money's worth. The ...  more »
  • Amazing amount of space so you don't feel crowded but apart from the walks there isn't a huge amount to do. Worth going back in the evening to see the place lit up. The falconry display was very good ...  more »
  • I have taken the grandkids to Robin Hill many times and we have always enjoyed the animals and nature trail, but more recently have been to several of the evening events which have been just brilliant...  more »

  • Robin Hill country park was a really great day out for the family from the treetop walk to the toboggans every member of the family had a great time. In terms of rides the park is not a theme park by any stretch of the imagination, aside from the Pirate Ship it's mainly slides and sit on rides like the train. Most are aimed at younger kids ( up to 10) - I'm not sure teenagers would get much out of it. There are other activities like laser skeet shooting and the toboggans but you have to pay extra for some of these rides - it's a shame its not included in the ticket price, but its not much extra. The toboggan was super busy when we were there and it's something you'll want to go on more than once - so be prepared to queue. Make sure the kids bring money as there is a pretty good gift shop for souvenirs. The gardens are beautiful on a sunny day it's just nice to wander around. The places to eat were quite nice if overpriced. Summary: We had a great day here and would recommend it for families!
  • Highlight of our holiday. Great selection of activities for 8-10 year olds - toboggan, squirrel run, loads of play equipment - its all set in a large forest area - so it feels like you are exploring and discovering hidden treats. The birds of prey displays was a favourite. Visited 3 days of our week holiday! Beautifully lit up at night too.
  • I reluctantly went thinking it was way too expensive. I came away thinking it was great value. We had a full day and evening. It's a place for kids to enjoy proper outdoor fun. Loads of great activities and things to discover. The carnival and lights in the woods in the evening were a great end to the day Brilliant fun
  • Kids entertainment place. Cafes around, drinks, ice cream etc. Kids can spend a full day. Some rides need to be paid extra. Entrance fee paid is way too high i.e. £19 per adult. On top spend in the cafe costs more as well. I wouldn't mind paying for good quality food. The African forest themed cafe served the blunt chicken burger I have ever had. Needs lot of improvement to justify cost.
  • We love Robin Hill and have visited with our children for several years. It's like a huge park interspersed with some great outdoor play areas and random things like a tug of war, water gardens, a maze, rides... the grounds are spacious and lovely and it makes a great day out for young families.
