  • Small property and gardens , but well worth a visit , picturesque gardens and wildlife trails , place is very into wildlife too , with hides and observation points. House is smaller than many national trust places but well presented and well renovated. Informative and genuinely interested staff. Not a full days visit required , but give yourself an hour or two to take it all in.
  • Well worth the trip but it is not a full day adventure. It is nice to better understand the connection between the UK and the first president of the US. We went on July 4th (American Independence Day) and there was a special ceremony along with the raising of the US flag. Great experience.
  • Very interesting and we'll presented National Trust house. The visit will probably take about 1 to 2 hours. Very little to do in the immediate area but not too far from other attractions in County Durham.
  • Join the national trust and visit this beautiful old hall, the garden contains a knot hedge_brilliant!
  • Great hidden gem. Lovely gardens and interesting exhibition in the hall. Fairly limited selection in the tea room, but what was available was very tasty.
