Interesting building but blighted by previous planning decisions. Close to the Quayside and cathedral. Worth a look if you are in the area.  more »

The reviews on here are spot on, great views over the city. I thought this was quite an interesting castle with a lot of history. There's not loads of information, but enough to keep you interested. W...  more »

The Castle is lovely for kids who can learn all about knights and life in the castle. For adults there's nothing much spectacular to see if you have visited a few of these castles before. There is a g...  more »

  • Important historical value. Magnificent design with a seemingly endless spiral staircase to the top. There are multiple rooms and hallways to explore. The view of Newcastle at the top is glorious!
  • The Newcastle castle is well worth a visit very clean well lit .... All rooms explained for their history and use. Amazing views from the top over the river and the train station. Not really accessible to wheelchairs The castle keep and St nicholas cathedral nearby are also worthy of a view There's a little cafe coffee place at the back of the cathedral that's really good. And it's all a short walk from the train station and the centre of the city.
  • It's a maze of passages, stairways, and rooms. Wonderful staff, well presented. Fantastic experience.
  • amazing building. so much history. i didnt think my 3 year old would enjoy it, but we had a great time. word of warning, if you want to go to the roof, be prepaired for a lot af stairs.
  • Lovely castle tower. When we visited they had a Christmas fair inside the castle. It was very interesting.... the gate house has an elevator so is handicapped accessible but the tower itself did not have any access... lots of steps
