  • Newcastle library is very helpful in trying to access free WiFi and a range of books. However the WiFi is limited to one hour on a computer and as a student this can be frustrating as I need at least two hours to be able to complete documents. Also lets not forget the early shutting times, which is seven on weekdays and five on a Friday. This is the factor that really bothers me as seven is still day hours to do work. Side note this may not bother some of you but there are people who take advantage of Newcastle library who stink of either weed or booze and fill up the computers and library study space doing God knows what. I will not be recommending this library to any students.
  • A fantastic library and was extremely useful before Google. It's a really nice building so credit to the architect and builders on this one. It's nice being able to get away from it all and relax reading the huge array of books. Also a good one to get some children's books. Keep visiting people and support it.
  • The previous library building on this site was an concrete eyesore, part of a 60s redevelopment of this block which included the pearl further up and princess square an ugly precinct style shopping square. The whole area is long past its sell by date and should be gone. This library has been rebuilt and its excellent. It features a spectacular atrium entrance with glass lifts to the six floors and a viewing box overhanging the building which could have been a mistake, but this one allows views up to the monument. This library and the laing art gallery over the road are the main attractions in this area.
  • The Newcastle Library is a very good place for anyone who wants to go and learn or just simply have some peace and quiet. The library is 6 floors and contains 1000's of books available. The library also provides useful tools for those who are trying to research the archives for the history of Newcastle or for even their own heritage and ancestry. The only issues I found were some of the staff were a little impolite and not the most easy to approach. I recommend you also reserve a computer in advance as the computers were all in use and when I got a computer it automatically logged me out because somebody had quickly made a reservation online.
  • Spent over 11 minutes waiting on phone just to book a computer for walker library. Terrible service!
