Newcastle Emlyn Castle, in the town of Newcastle Emlyn in Carmarthenshire, Wales.The ruined 13th-century castle, mentioned in Brut y Tywysogion in 1215, when it was seized by Llewelyn the Great (Llywelyn ap Iorwerth). It was recaptured by English forces in 1288, bringing Rhys ap Maredudd's revolt to an end. The castle was captured by the Welsh during the revolt of 1287-8, and also by Owain Glynd┼Ár in 1403.

  • Raised stones on footpath caused a nasty fall to toddler and a gash to head.. broken glass bottles smashed around castle . Not a pleasant visit ended up in injury. 
  • While the castle is ok, the parking is very poor, if you do get a space then it's handy for the town as well, obviously as everyone else realises 
  • Very peaceful walk by the river steeped in medieval folklore and mystery, the trees and presence of the river were wonderful, we visited in Autumn where the autumn leaves were stunning
