  • Not my cup of tea but my husband and son loved it. Especially my husband who loves planes was very excited about the visit and it didn't disappoint. Very helpful staff too. Dogs allowed on a lead whic...  more »

  • Museum is frankly very good for what it is and it’s cost but I am biased. The shop sells a multitude of kits and books so any hobbyists will be happy. The tea room is dire and a bit limited and pricey...  more »

  • One of the best aviation museums in the country. An excellent museum with a comprehensive range of military aircraft and related exhibits and probably the friendliest staff and volunteers I have ever encountered at a museum and I volunteer at another museum! The whole place still has that old nostalgic wartime airfield atmosphere feel about it which just adds to the experience and we had very enjoyable day. It took us three hours to get there but it was well worth it and everyone at the museum made us feel very welcome and really looked after us. I can't recommend this museum enough and will definitely return later in the year. Well done to all the staff and volunteers!
  • Great selection of aircraft, many early jets. Contains some great pieces of information. Worth the trip just to get the tour inside the Vulcan bomber, but worth contacting the visitor center to check they are opening the aircraft on that day to avoid disappointment if traveling just to get inside. Other aircraft are open on other days, like the maritime Shackleton, which is also another fascinating aircraft to see inside of, being about to see the sonar display equipment etc. Good day out. New cafe opening soon (wasn't open May 2018)
  • Genuinely a lovely museum. A real variety of interesting aircraft packed into a couple of well laid out hangers, from home made helicopters and VW engine powered kit planes, to Saab fighters jets, a Vulcan bomber and an assortment of Gloster Meteors. Apparently this is Britain's largest private collection and all the more impressive for it. I appreciated the fact that some of the planes were in the process of being restored too, rather than all being pristine. As well as the aircraft there are interesting displays of models, and exhibits of documents and ephemera that give real context. Overall very highly recommended.
  • This is a really entertaining and phenomenal place. The amount of planes on such a small area is extreme and they have amassed a phenomenal collection. As well as this, the cafe is fantastic and the gift shop is reasonable in price and you can have a conversation with anyone working there. If you are near newark you must come here
  • We all enjoyed our afternoon at the museum. Lots of exhibits to look at. Probably not the best place to take four year olds as they soon got bored and started running around. They could have done with an adventure playground to burn their energy off after dinner. Nice little cafe and reasonably priced.
