Morden Hall Park is a National Trust park located on the banks of the River Wandle in Morden, south London. It covers over 50ha (125 acres) of parkland with the River Wandle meandering through it spanned by numerous foot bridges. The estate contains Morden Hall itself, Morden Cottage, an old Snuff Mill, and many old farm buildings, some of which are now a garden centre and a city farm. The rose garden has over 2000 roses.HistoryThe estate land was originally owned by Westminster Abbey. There is evidence of an earlier manor-house, but the Hall dates back to the 1770s and contains a variety of natural landscapes, including the parkland of the "Deer Park", meadow and marshland. A number of historic buildings are located in the park, including the Hall itself and preserved watermills where tobacco was once ground into snuff. The Hall was owned and occupied by the Garth family for generations. It was occupied, as a school, for young gentlemen about 1840, until it was sold by Sir Richard Garth to a tobacco merchant Gilliat Hatfeild (1827 - 1906) in the 1870s.The Hall was a military hospital during the First World War.Gilliat Hatfeild's son, Gilliat Edward Hatfeild (1864 - 9 February 1941), left the core of the estate (including the house) to the National Trust, when he died. The Hall is now empty, after Whitbread plc decided that the building/location did not fit in with the business plan they had for their Beefeater chain. They still own the lease and continue to pay rent, according to the original lease contract. At least two attempts to sub-lease the property have failed, after limited success.Using our online itinerary creator, Morden attractions like National Trust - Morden Hall Park can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

It is hard not to be happy here. Admission is free and there is so much to do. Plenty of fresh air and space. Children can learn about different plants or find out about an old mill race and much more... more »

On my visit to the bookshop and cafe I was forced to go round the long way as the rose garden was closed to me and others including the many children there because of an Alice in Wonderland play takin... more »
So much to do here - rivers, walking, play area, gardens. A mile walk to seen city farm. Lots of cafes and a garden centre. We came with a newborn and toddler and liked it but think it's more suited to slightly older children who can make the most of the facilities. A few items in the play area were broken and I think they could easily add a few more bits keeping with the natural theme.
Good place to explore and let the kids have a runaround. There is a Caffè and garden centre at the entrance. Further down you would find a couple of more places that offer activities for the kids including painting and other arts and crafts (check before you go as this is not every weekend)
Lot's of lovely open space for the children to run around & be free. My daughter loves having a go on the zip wire, seeing the ducks & making new friends.
Modern Hall park is a nice and tranquil park which has the Wandle River running through. Great walks through the wetlands or rose gardens.
Very pretty and picturesque. The wetlands maker a very nice change from most outdoor spaces. We can for the Easter egg hunt which was exceptionally well run
